Marcia “Jeanne” Dunn Campbell, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her children, after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Though her passing leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of those who loved her, her life leaves behind a beautiful legacy of family, faith, and cherished memories that will continue to bring comfort and joy for generations to come. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday Oct. 15, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Billy” Campbell, and her parents, Larry and Geraldine Dunn.
Her greatest legacy is the family she loved so dearly. She is survived by her son, Steve (Sandy) Campbell of Tuscaloosa; her daughters, Lynne Robbins and Anita Rushing, both of Demopolis, Alabama; and six grandchildren: Gina (Matthew) Powell, Courtney (Tray) Wingo, Daniel Evans, Drew Rushing, Curtis (Mary Catherine) Campbell, and Jason Campbell. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren—Emma Powell, Harper Wingo, Weston Wingo, Ryleigh Rushing, Nate Rushing, and Cassie Campbell—who brought another generation of love and happiness into her life. She is also survived by her brothers, Bud (Linda) Dunn and Bob (Beth) Dunn, and her sister, Nancy Hunt.
Born in Sheffield, Alabama, Jeanne moved with her family to Tuscaloosa after World War II. She graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1963 and spent much of her working life contributing to several family and local businesses, including Dunn Nursery, Creative Display, S.T. Bunn Construction, and Billy Boyd Construction. Through her years of work, she remained connected to the community she called home.
Faith was an important part of Jeanne’s life. She was a longtime member of University Church of Christ, where she lovingly participated in Children’s Bible Study, the High Tiders, and the Women’s Ministry. Her involvement in church life reflected the meaningful place faith and fellowship held in her life.
Jeanne also treasured the adventures and special moments she shared with family. She especially enjoyed traveling with her sister, taking memorable road trips to Texas, attending the annual Twins Convention with her mother and aunt, and setting sail on cruises. These journeys were more than trips; they were opportunities to share laughter, strengthen family bonds, and create memories that will be treasured for years to come.
While Jeanne will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the family she nurtured will remain a lasting part of her story. Her life was woven into the lives of those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the traditions carried forward, and the love passed from one generation to the next.
