Marcia Carol Harrison Duncan

Marcia Carol Harrison Duncan, age 63, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on Oct. 10, 2010, at home. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home. Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, is in charge of arrangements.

Her grandparents, Benjiman Franklins and Dovie Greathouse, and Earl and Mary Harrison, her father, Flavious Merl Harrison, and her brother, Joseph Merl Harrison, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Duncan; her mother, Hannah Tidwell; and her brother, Steve Harrison.

Mrs. Duncan was born in McCrackin County in Puduca, Ky. She attended Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama where she majored in music and voice performance. She received her RN license from Jefferson State Junior College. She worked at West Alabama Hospital which is now DCH North. She also did a short stint teaching for the Health Care Training Institute and was a Poison Information Specialist for the Alabama Poison Center. She enjoyed singing, piano, dance, sewing, knitting, family and friends, marriage, her family's farm, and church.

The family would like to express their appreciation to medical professionals, Dr. Stephen Browne and staff Internal Medicine, Dr. Gene Alldredge and staff Internal Medicine, Park Manor Nursing Home and staff, Hospice of West Alabama and staff, Dr. Kamel Raisaini and staff, DCH North and Tuscaloosa and staff, Jim Myers Drug and staff in Alberta; sitters, Marie Robertson, Angie Whitlock, Sonya Marcum, Marilin Latham and special thanks to Vickey Hughes. Thanks to all The University of Alabama Employees, Facilities Maintenance, and all on campus for the help, gifts, and prayers received by and for Marcia and Jack; Forest Lake and Alberta Baptist churches, BCBS of Alabama, and Medicare.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Lung Association, Diabietics Association, Hospice of West Alabama, or to any mental illness association.
