Marilynn touched many lives. She was a beloved member of the Romulus Community and of New Hope Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and secretary for many years. She loved activities and traveling with the Senior Adult group. During the week she served as a librarian in the University of Alabama Nursing School where she was recognized for her excellence in service. When the Romulus Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1997, she served on the executive board and later became the director of the Romulus Library. Later, when Sipsy Valley High School was built, she volunteered many hours in that library. Marilynn was a diligent worker, never seeking the limelight, but willingly serving whenever she saw a need.
Marilynn is survived by one brother, Wayne H. Matthews (Suzanne), a niece, Bonnie Lynn Matthews and close cousins: Wymbreth Chism, John Clayton and Clyde Biggs. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Wretha Park and John Hubert Matthews and brother, Hugh Park Matthews (Chaple).
