Martha Bunn

The family will have a Celebration of Life Gathering for immediate family on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 1:30-3:00 pm followed by Funeral Service in the Chapel at 3:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Northport, Alabama with Reverend Joyce Snyder officiating.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Mamie Harrald. Her husband Gene Bunn, son Steve Bunn, and grandson Daniel Bunn.

She is survived by her children, Jeffery Bunn (Betty); Becky Smelley (Allen); Darryl Bunn (Shawn); and grandchildren, Brandi Bunn, Katie Pomeroy (Al), Chazz Bunn, Brent Bunn, Tyler Smelley (Alicia Richards), Trent Smelley (Kaitlyn), Lori Miles (Joe) Christopher Blake Mayfield (Ashley) and Jessica Bunn.

Great grandchildren; Jaxon Oyler, Kenzi Williamson, Henry Pomeroy, Hannah Miles, Jaxon Miles, Sadie Mayfield, Landon Mayfield, Lillian Mayfield, Colt Mayfield, Sophie Grace Smelley, Isabella Kate Smelley, and Isaac James Smelley.

Martha was born January 8, 1939 and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School. She held various jobs throughout her lifetime. Martha worked at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, bookkeeper of her husband’s construction company and spent the last 3 decades of her life as the school cook at American Christian Academy. There she continued to take care of all the children that she truly adored! Martha’s love for her family was evident to all who knew her.

Martha was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church of Northport, Alabama. She enjoyed attending bible study and making quilts with the ladies at the church. She loved to watch Jeopardy, going to the beauty shop and watching her favorite baseball team, The Atlanta Braves. She loved a good cup of coffee, bacon and her favorite cake Italian Cream Cheese. She was smart, witty and the most selfless person you’ll ever know.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama or a charity of one’s choice.
