Martha was born to Pinkey and Georgia Barnett of Anderson, AL. She married WWII veteran, Wallace Jackson Tucker, on November 6, 1950. Martha and Wallace had three children: Deborah Kay, Glenn, and Jean.
Martha worked for Redstone Arsenal and lived in several places before ultimately moving to Tuscaloosa where she was proud to live on the University of Alabama campus. Martha loved reading books and had a large book collection. She could often be found drinking a cup of coffee and reading westerns or other adventurous stories. Martha was also an avid baseball fan and rarely missed a chance to watch the Atlanta Braves.
Martha loved her family the most. She would frequently talk about the pride she had for her children, the happiness she received from her grandchildren, and the sheer joy she had for her great-grandchildren. She filled her home with pictures of her family.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace Jackson Tucker; parents Pinkey Malone Barnett and Georgia Paulette Barnett; sisters Eloise Sinyard, Nell Ruth King, Geneva Belue; and brother Reeder Barnett.
She is survived by daughters Ella Jean Howard (John) and Deborah Kay Howard (Ed Brown); son James Glenn Tucker (Becky); grandchildren Anna Putman (Jeff), Beth McMillian (Dennis), John Howard (Mary), Leigh Ann Howard (James Johnson), Shawn Tucker (Kristy), Kyle Tucker (Brandy), Maggie Martin (Shaun), and Katlin McHenry (Chadwick). Great-grandchildren Hunter Putman (Courtney), Hanna Thigpen (Samuel), Chloe Howard, Grayson Tucker, Adelynn Tucker, Kyleigh Tucker, Jaiden Tucker, and Ian Martin.
The family would also like to extend its deepest gratitude to the staff of Capstone Village and Hospice of West Alabama for the care and love shown to Martha.
Let us all rejoice as Martha is with the Lord. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3.
