

NORTHPORT | Mary Ruth Graham, age 72, of Northport, died February 18, 2014, at home. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home with Scott McQueen officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Mae Carnes; son, Dan C. Spencer; brother, Julian Carnes; and her beloved grandson, Brandon Wade Skelton.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Charles H. Graham of Northport; daughters, Dana Skelton, Shannon Nece (Russell), Tammy D’avignon, and Kristin Graham, all of Northport; sisters, Thelma Jane Luce of Bryan, Texas, Nelma Jean Carnes of Northport; and sister in heart, Barbara Keys (Ron) of Tuscaloosa; fourteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mary was born in Bessemer, Alabama on Aug. 19, 1941 and raised in Vance by a loving Christian mother. Mary gave her life to the Lord at an early age, and always taught her children and grandchildren, no matter what you choose to do in life, as long as you give your life to God, you will succeed.
Pallbearers will be Ron Keys, Burt D’avignon, Justin Lawley, Christopher D’avignon, Andrew D’avignon, Connor Sparks, and Zach Gaff.
Honorary pallbearers are Roy Kelley, Lakewood Baptist Church members and the Senior Adult class, the staff of Pine Valley and The Knoll, UAB Gynecology Oncology, Dr. Max Austin, Dr. Kerri Bevis, and Alacare Hospice staff.
