Mary Jane Porter

Mary Jane Porter, 81, of Northport, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2025. She was born in Greene County Alabama September 3, 1943, to James Lashley and Mattie Lee Lashley better known as "Momalash" and "Daddylash."

Mary Jane was married to Glenn Porter. They had one son, Lamar Porter. Mary Jane and Glenn owned their own business and truly loved all their customers who all became their friends. Mary Jane loved with all her heart her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are all she would talk about. She loved keeping up with everyone on life 360. This was her entertainment during the day. She always looked forward to the children coming over.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband Glenn Porter; cherished daughter-in-law, Susan Porter; siblings, Claudene Rhodes, Martha Grantham, Faye Beams and James Jr Lashley.

She is survived by her son, Lamar; grandchildren, Adam, Seth, Maggie and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Whitleigh and Watson; siblings Evelyn Gay and Willice Lashley.

Mary Jane will be greatly missed but is now walking heavens golden streets with our heavenly father and family.

A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw, AL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to Hospice of West Alabama.
