Maurine Kuykendall Oswalt

Maurine K. Oswalt NORTHPORT Maurine K. Oswalt, age 87, of Northport, died June 1, 2011. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman and Minnie Kuykendall; her husband, Malcolm Oswalt; two infant sons; a daughter, Sharon Galloway; a great-grandson, Gabe Sims; brothers, Clayton Kuykendall, Granville Kuykendall, and Bill Kuykendall; and sisters, Jeanette Gurganus and Annette Norris.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Mary John Kuykendall of Northport; son-in-law, Billy Galloway of Northport; grandchildren, Amy Sims (Josh) and Stacy Galloway; great-grandsons, Eli, Sam, and Drew Sims; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, and sweet friends.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt sister, and friend. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially her great-grandsons. She retried from the county Board of Education. She loved traveling, camping, and reading. She was a longtime member of Five Points Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Billy Galloway, Josh Sims, Russell Rice, David Weir, Jerry Kuykendall, Jimmy Kuykendall, Amos Elam, and David Kemp.

Honorary pallbearers are neighbors of Eleanor Drive, Amedisys Home Health & Hospice, Heritage Health Care and Rehab, and Five Points Baptist Church.
