

The service will be Monday, August 1, 2022 at First United Methodist of Tuscaloosa. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 p.m. in Chitwood Hall prior to the service at 3:00 in the sanctuary. Private burial will be in Aliceville, AL at Oak Grove Franconia Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar McCreless and grandparents of Gadsden, AL.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Jerri Ann McCreless; sons Patrick, Columbia, SC and Alex (Megan) Shreveport, LA; mother Edna of Southside, AL; brother Steve (Vivian) of Tuscaloosa and brother Daron (Deedra)of Southside, AL; mother-in-law Sara Peebles; sisters-in-law Sarah Johnson (Ricky), Celeste Hankins (Kenny), Virginia Latham (Mike), all of Aliceville, AL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michael graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1978 and marched in the Marching Southerners, where he played bass trombone. He joined the Air Force and was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL.He played bass trombone with the Air Force band.
He served as a band director in Georgia and Alabama. He played over 50 years in many groups and in many genres of music. Later he attended the University of Alabama in the School of Art. He loved creating art for family, friends and others. He enjoyed talking about “Jax State” and his beloved “Southerners” more than anything else except his wonderful sons. He was a proud father always willing to share stories about their accomplishments.
He was loved by his family and friends,and will be greatly missed. We rejoice in his life knowing he is resting in the hands of God.
