

NORTHPORT – Minnie Grace Jones, age 86, of Northport, died July 29, 2017, at Forest Manor Rehabilitation Pavilion. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Sunset Chapel with Rev. Ron Manley and Rev. Jimmy Holliman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Leon Jones; parents, David and Lola Lunceford; siblings, Avis, Lizette, Hugh Jack, Leon, Faye, Dan and Joe; son-in-law, Steve Davis and great-grandson, Davis Atkinson.
Survivors include daughter, Jean Davis; son, Mike Jones (Sherry); grandchildren, Penny Atkinson (Chris), Nick Davis, Jason Jones (Bethany), and Jon Jones (Kim); great-grandchildren, Will, Wyatt, Evan, Eva, Annely and Huck; siblings, Ken (Barb), Jean, Jimmy (Margaret), Tony (Jan); in-laws, Eunice, Coleen, Janice, Betty and Mett; and many nieces and nephews.
Minnie was a dedicated child of God and loved her church, neighbors and friends. She was completely devoted to her family and loved sharing stories and good times of growing up in a family of 12 children. She adored her children and grandchildren and loved spending time and doing things with them. She was a homemaker, secretary/bookkeeper for Jones Logging and Trucking, helped with many weddings, showers, gardener, and loved to cook for her family and many others.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, nephews and nieces.
Honorary pallbearers are Minnie Jones and family, former employers of Jones Logging and Trucking, Oregonia Church, Campground Church, Northport Church of God, Myra Nodine and staff at Bryant Bank, neighbors and friends, Johnny Humphrey, Rev. and Mrs. Mike Gray, Rev. and Mrs. Gary Hill, Rev. Jerry Montgomery and her much loved caregiver and friend, Jean Stewart.
Special thanks to all her doctors and many nurses who have given her the best of care and love.
We love you Mom (Mamaw) and thanks for always being there for us.
