

Tuscaloosa – Beth O. Mills, age 74 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 30th, 2024 at Hospice of West Alabama. A graveside service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 7100 Watermelon Road Northport, Alabama 35473 at 11:00am. There will be a visitation one hour prior at the church. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and her parents, James Ormond Oswalt, Edwina O. Whitmire and stepfather Robert E. (Bob) Whitmire, her in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Mills. Survivors include her husband Joel Daniel (Danny) Mills, her sister Terri O. Bailey (Tom), her brother Rick Oswalt, her sister in-law Jimmie Ann Cabiness (Jim), brothers- in- law James Mills (Charlotte) and Jerry Mills (Cathy). Her nieces and nephews: Ryan Elizabeth Bailey Maass (Nic), Jenny Farrar (Brent), Jaime Mills, Jennifer Naves (Robbie), Meredith Page (Chris), Dr. Stan Turnipseed (Ellen), Jason Mills (Dana). In addition to numerous great nieces and nephews, her Godson Jarrod Ray Wright and her cousins Nancy E. Jones, Erica Perry (Brett) and Tara Griffin.
Beth was a 1967 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High school and a graduate of Shelton State Technical College with a degree in Data Processing. She went to work at Gulf States Paper Mill in the corporate office. Later changing jobs to work at BF Goodrich Tire Plant where she retired in 2007, after 32 years of dedicated service. Before retirement, Beth enjoyed spending time with Danny, family and friends at their camp in Eutaw, Alabama where they would fish, run trotlines or cruise the river on her pontoon boat the “Little Beth O”. In retirement one could find her working with her flowers, relaxing on her patio reading a book and listening to the “Oldies but Goldie’s” radio station. She loved to go to garage/estate sales with her mother and sister. To know Beth was to love her, she was the “Life of the Party”. She was a friend to all and had one of the most beautiful smiles.
Brothers- in- law and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Jerry and Betty Jo Wright, Mike Davidson, Billy and Denise Jones, James and Kay McBride, past and present employees of Michelin BF Goodrich Tire Plant and McAbee Construction, Doctors, Nurses and staff at Hospice of West Alabama, her sweet dedicated caregivers April “Angel” Connell, Pearlie Maddox, Carolyn Maddox and Felicia Henley, Tuscaloosa County High School class of 1967, Dr. Scott Kemp and Amy Wyatt
