A native of Brent, Alabama, he served in the United States army, stationed in Japan. Olen had a servant's heart and was a long-time member and deacon of Five Points Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Myrtle Thompson and eight brothers,four sisters and great-granddaughter Sara Lauren Ramage.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sadie Thompson, son Kenny Thompson (Janet) of Spring Hill, TN, daughter Connie Hitt (Mack) of Northport, AL, grandchildren Ashley Ramage (Ryan) of Mountain Brook, AL, Alyson Snyder (Joe) of Lexington, SC, Michele Hitt of Madison, AL, Amy Moyer (Jay) of Northport, AL and Ashley Krumbein (Patrick) of Stuttgart, Germany.

He is also survived by great grandchildren Jackson and Jacob Ramage, Reese and Mallie Moyer, and Parker Snyder.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Ramage, Jackson Ramage, Jay Moyer, Terrell Waldrop, Don Kelly, Joe Snyder, Patrick Krumbein and Mike Davis.

Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of Smith Acres and deacons and members of Five Points Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 11:00 at Sunset Funeral Home. The family requests that everyone attending to please wear masks.
