Robert L. Nix

Robert was born on November 29, 1938, to William and Lassie Nix. He learned to sing before he learned to talk. Robert sang with the spirit of the Lord, which was very evident in his actions. He was a member of the Cavaliers Quartet. He dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving in the fire service.

Robert was married to Cindy Walker Nix, with whom he shared a life filled with family, love, and devotion. He will be remembered as a kind, witty, and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His presence brought warmth to those around him, and his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Nix; his children, Wayne Nix (Joanna), Sherry Duncan (Ricky), Shawn Walker (Stormie), Brad Walker (Ashley), Julie Walker Haas, and Shannon Walker Ingram; and his sister, Doris Reid.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Robert Edwards (Hope); Robbie Nix; Stephanie Denney (Steven); Lauren Shaw (Brett); Jessica Thornton; Joey Richardson (Jennifer); Michael Richardson (Savannah); Kinsley Walker; Duncan Walker; Preston Walker; Paisley Haas; Evan Donahue (Carolyn); and Mattie Holland Ingram; along with many special great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lassie Nix; his brothers, Herman S. Nix and William Eugene Nix; and an angel great-grandbaby.

Though he will be deeply missed, the family takes comfort in knowing that Robert is now rejoicing in Heaven, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His life stands as a testament to faith, service, and unconditional love.

A visitation for Robert will be held at Circlewood Baptist Church, 2201 Loop Rd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405, on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
