

Born January 16, 1935, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Leslie Wood Faucett; his parents, Sam P. Faucett Jr. and Gwendolyn Faucett; his brother, John Paul Faucett; grandson, Sam Phillips; and great-grandson, Elijah Crow.
Survivors include his two daughters, Margaret Phillips (Clyde) and Marsha Crow (Glenn); grandchildren, Hunter Phillips (Jessica), Drew Phillips (Nikki), Holly Phillips, Brad Crow (Ashley), Bryan Crow (Weezie) and Leslie Stone (Drew); 16 great-grandchildren and loving nieces and a nephew.
A 1952 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School, whose current campus bears his name to honor his countless contributions, Sam Faucett played an instrumental role in the school's evolution over his many years of dedicated involvement and philanthropy. After graduating from the University of Alabama in 1956, he embarked on a storied career in banking that began at City National Bank as a loan teller in 1962 and spanned decades, culminating in Faucett serving as president of Regions banks across Florida, Louisiana and West Alabama until his retirement in 2000.
Apart from his business pursuits, he also served 12 years on the Northport City Council and eventually as the city's mayor. Known for his colorful clothes, sense of humor and straight-shooting personality, civic involvement was also an important part of his life, with Faucett serving on several board of directors and devoting time to numerous groups.These organizations included: The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, Friends of Historic Northport, DCH Regional Medical Center, the UA's President’s Cabinet, the Capstone Health Services Foundation, the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration Board of Visitors, the Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority Board and the Community Foundation of West Alabama.
Sam Faucett received many honors in his lifetime, including Northport Citizen of the Year, along with inductions to both the Tuscaloosa County Civic Hall of Fame and the Alabama Business Hall of Fame, just to name a few.
A Graveside Service for Sam will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Williamson Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Episcopal Church. A reception and visitation will be held immediately following the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Crow, Clyde Phillips, Brad Crow, Hunter Phillips, Bryan Crow, Drew Phillips, Jaden Crow, Anders Crow and Rhett Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Foundation of West Alabama for the Elijah Crow or Sam Phillips Memorial Scholarship Funds, Hospice of West Alabama or Christ Episcopal Church.
