Shirley Cole Snow

TUSCALOOSA – Shirley Cole Snow, age 75, of Tuscaloosa, died January 25, 2016, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016, at Sunset Funeral Home with Brother Alfred Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Bobbie Cole of Paxton, Fla; a sister, Selma Cole; and granddaughter, Meleah Mims.

Survivors include her husband, Rick Snow of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughters, Jennifer Grimes (Jason) of Coker, Ala. and Sherry Hodge Coker of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sons, Donald Hodge (Melinda) of Gordo, Ala. and Rodney Hodge of Northport, Ala.; sisters, Sharon Jarvis (Russ) of Andalusia, Ala. and Marie Murphy (Leslie) of Andalusia, Ala.; brother, Tom Cole (Debbie) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and grandchildren, Carson Sanford, Jay Grimes, Rachel Hodge, Lou Anna Truelove, Lane Coker and Alex Coker.

Our beloved Big Momma was born August 16, 1940 in Falco, Ala. She spent her childhood in Central Florida. She taught herself to cook and sew at the tender age of nine. She is well known for her delicious made from scratch food and beautiful sewing.

Big Momma raised her four children while feeding and loving many more that needed an extra hand. She worked for Seton Home Health Care as a Hospice CNA. She always said it was an honor to help with end of life care.

She so dearly loved God, her sweetheart, children and especially her grandchildren. Her beautiful soul passed to Heaven surrounded by her husband, children and minister. Her work here is done and was done well.

Pallbearers will be John Cole, Darrell Truelove, Craig Usher, Sammy Snow, Andrew Snow and Dr. Tim Prestley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
