

TUSCALOOSA | Virginia Ratcliff Ivy, age 77, of Tuscaloosa, died March 16, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi with Rev. Mary An Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donivan Ivy; parents, Rance and Orelia Ratcliff; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Ratcliff.Survivors include sons, Anthony Ivy and Jonathan Ivy (Melissa) of Tuscaloosa; brothers, Wilroy Ratcliff of Laurel, Miss. and Scott Ratcliff (Judy) of Pedal, Miss.; and grandchildren, Caleb and Abby Kate Ivy of Tuscaloosa. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a Master's Degree in Nutrition and taught in the Tuscaloosa City School System. She loved to cook, sew, entertain and loved Alabama football. She was an avid collector of Madame Alexander Dolls. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. From tea parties to baseball games, she was always present. She will be dearly missed.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
