Virginia Sanford "Tootsie" Colburn

NORTHPORT | Virginia Sanford "Tootsie" Colburn, age 84, of Northport, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home with Bro. David Fletcher and Bro. Roy Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas, Bob, John William, Jr. and Frank Sanford; sisters, Maudie S. Colburn, Lucille S. Watkins, Doshie S. Taylor, Lois S. Taylor and Stella S. Sanford; grandchild, Chris Jacobs; and sons-in-law, Aubrey Jacobs and Henry Smith.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Luther W. Colburn; daughters, Linda C. Jacobs, Brenda C. Hoggle (Jerry), and Sharon C. Pruitt (James); son, Lowell Dwayne Colburn (Brenda); grandchildren, Byron Jacobs, D.J. (Daryle) Jacobs, Robin Fondren, Suzanne Pearson, Melody Arrowood, Jackie Long, Amanda C. Cole, Jeremy B. Colburn, Heather P. Abernathy and Johnathan Pruitt; 31 great-grandchildren; and step grandchildren, Jeremy Hoggle and Jaena Shuttlesworth.

Pallbearers will be Byron Jacobs, Coy Arrowood, Daryle Jacobs, Jeremy Colburn, Johnathan Pruitt, Bradley Fondren, Matt Jacobs, and Austin Abernathy.

Honorary pallbearers are staff of Alacare Hospice, friends and neighbors of Carrollwood Lakeview Drive, and members of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
