Walter Thomas "Tom" Mason

Walter Thomas "Tom" Mason, age 51, of Palm Harbor, Florida, formerly of Northport, died September 22, 2012, at Trinity Medical Center in Trinity Florida. Services will be 2 PM Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in Cornelius Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Survivors include his parents, Thomas and Patricia Mason of Northport; his daughter, Rhayn Raymond of Palm Harbor, Florida; his stepdaugher Cayla Smith of Alken, South Carolina; his fiancee, Mary Ann Webber of Tuscaloosa; his brother, Steven Mason (Trully) of Nashville, Tennessee; his sister, Vicki Mason Miller of Northport; his niece, Christine Childs of Northport; his nephews, Isaiah and Micah Mason; his aunt, Shirley Brown; his uncles, Ronnie Mason (Linda) and Michael Mason (Kim); and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was born at Mather Air Force Base, California, and grew up in a military family. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School where he played football. After school, he entered the US Navy Seabees. Tom was president of Sunscape Landscape Services Inc. in Tampa, Florida. He was a member of Harborside Christian Church in Clearwater, Florida.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Brown, Ron Mason, Michael Mason, Butch Thomas, Tuffy Holland, and Bryant McGee.

Honorary pallbearers are Patrick and Marie Sirochman, James Rouse, Michelle Givens, Kyle Thompson and Athena Mihael Aras, and all employees of Sunscape Landscape Services in Tampa, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of to Northport Baptist Church Building Fund.
