Warren H Spruill

Born on October 4, 1936, in New Bern, North Carolina, Warren was the son of the late Hilda and William Spruill. He attended college at the San Jose State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science. After graduating with his Bachelor's degree, he attended the University of Alabama to obtain his PhD in Higher Education Administration. A lifelong learner and dedicated professional, he served as a general auditor for 22 years at the University of Alabama until his retirement. Prior to that, he held the position of head of internal auditing at Stanford University in California for 18 years.

Warren had a deep love for travel, having visited all seven continents over the course of his life. He also enjoyed playing golf, exercising, attending the theatre and symphony, and was a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide fan. In 1961, Warren married the love of his life, Adrienne, and together they shared 64 wonderful years. They were blessed with a daughter, Karen Spruill Stephenson, who preceded him in death.

In addition to his daughter, he is also preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and William; and siblings, William, Hilda, and Theresa.

Warren is survived by his beloved wife, Adrienne Spruill; granddaughter, Monica Stephenson; niece, Mary Ann Fitzgerald; and nephew, Herb Lewis.

Warren will be remembered for his kind spirit, sharp mind, and adventurous heart. His legacy of love, integrity, and curiosity will continue to inspire those who knew him.
