Bill was born in Mineral Wells, TX. He was a proud Tuscaloosa County High School Wildcat, Class of 1971. He lettered in both basketball and football. At the age of 19, he went to work at Campbell & Associates, Inc as a sandblaster. He went from blasting to rubber lining and for the next 53 years of his life, rubber lining was his passion. When he became the foreman, he took a crew of six to Iran to rubber line a soap factory. The job was projected to take six months, but Bill and his crew finished it in six weeks. Bill and the crew would travel throughout the United States rubber lining tanks for companies such as DuPont & Monsanto. Through his dedication and unwavering work ethic, Bill was named manager of Campbell & Associates, Inc, Manufacturing Division, which included steel fabrication, rubber lining and industrial coatings. In 2002, Bill bought the company and named it Capstone Process Systems. For the next 23 years, he was living the American dream, ownership of a company that he had worked at 30 years prior. To this day, Bill is well noted in the rubber lining industry. When he wasn’t working, you could find him on a golf course. He enjoyed many years of playing with his golfing buddies.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Carolyn Benford.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Gossett; daughter, Tara (Darrin) and son, Ryan. He was a proud grandfather to Paige (Nicholas), Bradley (Bregan), and Lucas.
