

William Russell Kincaid was born in Birmingham, AL., to Elmer Joseph Kincaid and Elsie Lauxwan Kincaid on June 2, 1932. He passed away October 22, 2025, while entering Hospice of West Alabama at the age of 93.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Coker Kincaid of Northport, AL.; sons, Richard Mark Kincaid of Northport, AL, and Kenneth Wayne Kincaid of Tuscaloosa, AL.; daughters, Johanna Lynn Jones of Northport, and Cynthia Leigh Mallory (Allen) of Tuscaloosa, AL.; brother, Larry Kincaid; step-son Brandon Free (Dana); grandsons, Russell Jones, Christopher Jones, Tanner Jones, David Ryan, Stan Ryan, Wheeler Kincaid, and Braeden Free; granddaughters, Elizabeth Kincaid and Kendall Free, and ten great grandchildren: Dillan, Dalton, Atley, Rynlee, Evie, Autumn, Patton, Morgan, Maverick and Lincoln. He is preceded by his parents, Joe and Elsie Kincaid, his sister, Bettie Cummings. Special thanks goes to Gail Duncan, who helped care for him.
He married his wife, Janice, on November 21, 1980. He was a teacher and coach at Brookwood High School and later at Tuscaloosa County High School, where he taught driver’s education. He held a Master’s degree from the University of Alabama. He served four years in the United States military from 1952 to 1956, playing trumpet in the army band. He had several smaller jobs, including newspaper routes, and put himself through college. From a young age until he could not, he was always working hard. He built a business of rental properties over 30 years, doing most of the maintenance and care for them himself with his wife. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, skiing, traveling to the coast, softball, and woodworking.
A visitation for William will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am with Dr. Allen Mallory officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are David Ryan, Stan Ryan, Russell Jones, Christopher Jones, Tanner Jones, Braeden Free.
