Willie Charles Watson

Willie Charles Watson, age 80, of Northport, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Phillips Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Jones and Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Phillips Chapel Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight, August, 28, 2010, at the funeral home.

He is survived by his daughters, Patsy Etheridge (Bill) and Sharon Gurley (Bill); brothers, Raymond Watson and Wyman Watson (Judy); sisters, Bennie Phillips, Vista Montgomery and Billie Faye Freeman; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one great- great grandchild.

Willie was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed greatly. He loved to hunt, fish and make people laugh. He served his community as the chief of the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department and was always willing to help others.

Pallbearers will be Randall Freeman, Clark Collins, Harry Montgomery, Mike Oswalt, Mitch Freeman, Greg Montgomery, Wayne Traweek and Scott Connell.

Honorary pallbearers are Amedisys, Morman Road Community, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department and the Tuscaloosa Board of Education.
