

Having been born on Christmas Eve, she thought her name should have been Carol but was instead named for the Dean of Women at Auburn University, Zoe Dobbs. After graduating from Gadsden High School and Auburn University, Zoe went to work for Alabama Power Company in Tuscaloosa. On a blind date she met the love of her life, Samuel Albert Watkins; they recently celebrated their 64th Anniversary. Zoe took time off to raise her three children before ultimately retiring from First Alabama Bank.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel Albert Watkins; daughters Jenny Edgeworth (Greg) and Carol Thomasson (Jeff); son Kenneth Watkins; grandsons Trey Thomasson and Travis Thomasson; step-grandsons Andrew Thomasson (Sarah) and Scott Thomasson; step-grandchildren Addison Thomasson and Elliot Thomasson; brothers Mark Chambers (Judy) and Lee Chambers (Kathie); sister Lane Nestman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport, AL. The family will receive friends at 10:30 AM with a service to follow at 11:30 AM.
