Cal was a darling little boy whom everyone who knew him loved.

I am a cousin who was eight years older, and from the time that he was small he had a place at the top of "My Favorite People" list.

Our families were close so I saw him often.  At Christmas time when he was five I took him to school with me so he could see Santa.  When he was a few years older, he and I rode the bus into the city for I knew of a place to have his picture taken.

When I was a teenager Cal wanted to go swimming with me and my friends.  (We swam in a creek.)  He needed a bathing suit so I sewed one for him.

These memories, and many others, have enriched my life.   I have been blessed, and am so very thankful for, the life of a special person called Cal.

Many years have passed.  A few months back he phoned me saying, "I don't have any news.  I guess I just wanted to hear your voice."
