Conor,

You were one of my very first friends when I started at Topeka Drive. I still remember how we first became close in Mrs. Trejo’s kindergarten class. We were learning our ABCs, learning additions/subtractions, and dominating the handball courts.

Even when I moved away for years, we stayed connected through social media. When I came back to LA after 13 years, getting together again and grabbing NY chicken and gyro made me realize how much those early days meant.

You’ve been my friend from the start, and that’s something I’ll never forget. I’m grateful for the memories we made, and I’ll miss you buddy.

It’s still hard for me to believe, but I’ll miss you just as many others will. You’ve touch so many lives in such a positive way. I’ve had the privilege to of known you since we were in kindergarten, and I can proudly say that I have experienced a life time with you, or at least it feels that way. I could go on for hours talking about experiences with you, but, I only have a max of 2000 characters so I can only say this, you’ve been a part of the Shields family for many years and like a brother to me, and I love you and will miss you, and i will never forget about the eyeball! Love you man.

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with heavy hearts, grieving the loss of someone so deeply loved, my cousin — Conor Prado. Lord, we don’t always understand why tragedy strikes or why someone so young and full of life is taken so soon, but we trust that You hold him now in perfect peace, far beyond the pain of this world.

Please wrap Your loving arms around his parents — my dear Aunt and Uncle — as they face a sorrow no parent should ever know. Comfort them, Lord. Steady them. Be their strength when they feel weak and their hope when days feel hopeless.

Lift up his brothers, my cousins, as they carry the pain of losing not only a sibling, but a lifelong friend. May they feel Conor’s spirit in the quiet moments, in memories shared, and in the love that surrounds them.

And Lord, we ask You to be near to all who loved him — his extended family, his friends, his community — every heart broken by this sudden loss. Let them know You are close to the brokenhearted and that You mourn with us.

We thank You for the life Conor lived — for the joy he brought, for the love he gave, and for every beautiful moment we were blessed to share with him. May his memory never fade, and may his soul rest in Your eternal care.

Hold us close, Lord. Guide us through the grief. Help us to carry his light forward in our lives.
