January 28, 1932 – June 4, 2014
Julia was born in Paducah Kentucky to Floyd and Pauline Oldham and was the second oldest of 7 children; Ann Marie, Julia Lee, Peggy Sue, Betty Lou, Mary Lynn, William Glen, John Hall and that’s all (mind you her mother denies making their names rhyme). She went on to marry James Willard Jones and had two children; David Lawrence and Rebecca Ann. James was the love of her life and upon his passing she never had any interest in re-marrying and was content with the love she had from her family and friends.
Julia began her career as a Legal Secretary working for O’Melveny and Myer and then took a very risky, entrepreneurial move of leaving a good paying job to begin a career in Real Estate. She started at Forest E Olson who was later bought out by Coldwell Banker where she remained for 45 years. She was a “top” selling agent many times over and most of her business came from repeat or referral clients. She loved her job and thoroughly loved helping her clients buy and sell houses. She was extremely hard working and dedicated to her clients, always going the extra mile.
Julia had many interest throughout her years. She loved anything to do with arts and crafts; quilting, sculpturing, painting, basket weaving, gourd art, etc… She loved gardening and took pride in having a lovely landscaped yard. She loved to travel and play golf with her husband. She loved volunteering and was a driving force behind creating “Just Friends”; a group of women, whom she cherished, joined forces to fundraise for Providence Holy Cross Hospital.
Julia was an amazing woman and has touched the lives and hearts of so many. She had an amazing way at looking at life, always saying “it could be worse”. She was beautiful, loving, caring, kind, giving, and had unconditional love for all; she accepted everyone for who they were without judgment.
Julia loved her family and friends, leaving behind her son Larry, daughter Becky, Grandchildren James, Jenna and Justin, her Sister Mary Lynn, Brother John, brother-in-law Larry Joe, son-in-law Jeff, many nieces, nephews, cousins and an enormous amount of friends.
