Julia A. (Groftholdt) Sweeney (80) passed away on July 14, 2015 at her home in Northridge with her family at her side. Julia bravely battled cancer for over three years and always remained strong and optimistic.
Julia was born in Los Angeles to Arthur and Julia Groftholdt. She is survived by her three children, Cindy (Matt) Trice, Patricia Sweeney, and Steven (Julie) Sweeney; and her three grandchildren, Brandon Trice and Nicholas and Jaclyn Sweeney. Julia was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Boyd. Julia enjoyed celebrating holidays and other occasions with family, and also enjoyed traveling and golf, as well as classical music and opera. She was a talented pianist and singer, performing with the Johnny Mann Singers. Julia volunteered at Northridge Hospital for many years. She was known to all as kind, generous and loving. She will be dearly missed.
Julia will be laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Chatsworth. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Oakwood on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
