Lynne Ruth Bonet, mother to Sabrina, Jason, Brian, Vanessa, wife to Luis Bonet, and loving grandmother to Mia, Ian, Keira, Finn, Zeth, and Sky, began her ascension up the stairway to Heaven on Memorial Day, 2025.
Those beautiful steps were never anything she was afraid of—nor the climb, nor what awaited her at the top. On the contrary, she most likely took them two at a time, looking up eagerly to those smiling, waiting for her, happy that Lynne’s peace and sweetness would add to their angelic energy. It’s probable her mother, Ruth—whose loving smile matched that of Lynne’s—was at the front, the first to greet her once she reached the top.
Beyond Ruth, others who had been blessed to have known Lynne as a friend—from church, where she professed God’s teachings and love, or from childhood or her teens in Monroe, NY, where she became Miss Monroe before dedicating herself to helping others as a nurse—and those who knew her while spending time with her and her beloved surviving husband in their long and devoted 50+ year marriage, all probably waited to give her the loving welcome she deserved. Behind them, God’s own angels likely stood, ready for her to join their ranks.
It’s likely our mom did not look at each step that showed the highlights of her life and the happiness she spread to everyone throughout her 78 years alive—so eager she would have been to finally be with God.
If she had looked, she would have seen replays of Christmases where her children were gifted with bounty beyond dreams. She would have seen, in those Christmases, her children’s amazement that she somehow remembered what was in each and every package as she handed them one by one, and their awe that she had put so much time into the thought of each gift.
She would have seen happy vacations on Sanibel Island. She’d have seen laughter from family dinners on cruise ships.
As she took the last step from the staircase, we are sure Heaven itself brightened—just slightly, just enough for all to know that she had finally arrived.
And now that she’s there—with God, with the angels who protected and loved her—none of us, not her children, not her grandchildren who adored her, say that it’s not fair she’s not with us anymore.
Because we know she is.
We know her forever is with us always.
We have that peace—that she is beyond, and smiling at us from there, from Heaven, loving us and caring for us as much as she did the day before Memorial Day, 2025.
