

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Placida Gutierrez de Maldonado, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on December 31, 2024. Placida was a shining beacon of love and resilience, dedicating her life to her family and living with an enduring spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Born on February 3, 1956, in the beautiful town of Mamara, Peru, Placida was the cherished sister of Julio, Julian, Celia, and Avelina. Her early life in Peru was deeply rooted in strong family values and an abiding faith that guided her throughout her life journey. In the late 1980s, she and her loving husband, Wilfredo, courageously embarked on a new chapter, bringing their two children, Betsy and Marco, to the United States to build a brighter future.
Placida’s life was a testament to perseverance, humility, and unconditional love. Despite the challenges of her generation, she created a home filled with warmth, compassion, and laughter. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and her love for the Lord inspired all who were blessed to know her. She enriched the lives of her children and grandchildren with her wisdom, kindness, and boundless affection, leaving behind a legacy of grace and devotion.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Placida’s memory at a viewing on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bastian & Perrott, Oswald Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will follow on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Church, with interment at San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery.
Placida will forever be remembered for her strength, humility, and the immeasurable love she shared with all. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched with her selfless spirit and unwavering faith.
Rest in peace, Placida. You are deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure, but your legacy of love will forever guide us.
