Robert W. Meyers was born in North Hollywood, CA during the year 1952. He spent his early childhood and adolescence in the region as he graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1970. Four years later, Robert met the soon to be love of his life, Honey. They ultimately tied the knot in 1983 at Greta Greens Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Within a few years they had two kids, Eric (1985) and Jason (1987).
Bob, Robert’s nickname, was what he was called in the motion picture industry. As a member of the 728 lighting union, he dedicated 40 years of his life to the studios. He spent many years as one of the top rigging gaffers in the business and was well respected in that role. His legacy can be found across multiple shows/films such as Star Trek, Jimmy Kimmel, E.T., Starsky & Hutch, What About Bob? and Naked Gun just to name a few. He was an incredibly hard worker and he loved what he did. In 2019 he was able to fulfill his dream and finally retire.
Outside of the movie business, Robert was a loving husband and father to four boys. Family meant everything to him and this was evident at all of the holiday events. Whether it was Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas, these days were centered around the Meyers‘ household and filled with both immediate and adopted family members. Besides enjoying a home cooked meal during holidays, Robert was an avid golfer. He played both casually and competitively for decades before introducing his children to the beautiful game. He loved golf so much that he requested ‘to have his ashes spread at Pebble Beach Golf Course after his passing’.
Robert is survived by his wife, Honey and four boys, Dwayne, Terry, Eric & Jason.
