Traveling abroad to different destinations.
I can’t believe they’ve turned into empty conversations.
I’ll hold them near and dear as if my prize possessions.
 
To carry out those dreams is a promise,
as I stand here in solace.
You’ll always be there regardless.
A mission I hope to see through consciousness.
 
 
 
 
Now, however, seems dark like your shades.
Continuous never-ending clouds of grey.
I would turn to you, in these times of dismay.
It’s hard to cope, with you went my sunny days.
 
The optimist in me knows I’ll press forward.
Your memory will push me onward,
towards a future that has left me bewildered and altered.
Without you, everything feels awkward.
 
Like those Looney Tunes you knew so well,
feels like an anvil just fell.
Up from the heavens above where you now dwell.
These feelings of despair, I must learn to quell.
 
Know one thing, my dearest friend.
I’ll never comprehend,
why the lord needed you more in the end,
and took you from me instead.
 
You were my big homie,
took me under you wing.
But most importantly,
you were a brother to me.

Why did you have to go?
This emptiness and pain is unbearable.
They insisted your condition was repairable,
and I took those words literal.
 
I never expected it to be your demise.
We’d hit the gym, I’d get you to exercise.
Bench press, after 30 minutes on the bike.
Next day, the golfing links at sunrise.
 
There was nothing you couldn’t do.
So agile and nimble for a big dude.
Hard working and crude.
Life was something I thought you understood.
 
Passionate in all you took on.
A grill master in that apron.
A road warrior up the coast to Oregon.
My loyal friend and confidant.
 
You were the one I looked for,
From the moment we met at Grant and Weber.
Never knew you could be so clever
and that laugh, like no other.
 
You could hear it a mile away.
I’d give anything to hear it today.
We’d laugh and joke up the bay.
You were the one that booked our stay.
 
Could always count on you as a roommate.
And as our driver, we could feel safe,
had your own built in GPS, as we went from place to place.
You are truly someone that will never be replaced.
 
An anomaly if you wish.
You could be so smart and yet so stubborn and childish.
To say you watched your health would be remiss.
You loved to get your munch on, who was I to deny you this bliss.
 
Such great meals had at your home.
Mom and Dad embraced me as their own.
All that delicious food, always made us nap prone.
Lots of love was always shown.
 
I respected you so much, I hope I was never out of line.
Sure I crossed it with jokes a few times,
nothing that couldn’t be settled over beers and limes,
or a session had out back at halftime.
 
The competitor in you and that pride,
is what drove us inside.
Fearless in anything you tried.
I followed suit to coincide.
 
I can say I took you for granted.
This is not what I wanted.
Plans were made, the seeds had been planted.
Presently, feeling left abandoned.
 

You were my moms best friend, you two were all about each other, you always made sure my momma was happy as she did you. You always put her first as she did with you. You two were sooo happy with each other. Thank you so much Russell for making my mom the happiest I had seen her in a long time. Thank you for making her feel like the queen that she is. She took such great care of you till your last day with us. We shared so many great times together from our mini trips to our family get togethers, you even became apart of our family group chat. You became apart of us. You were apart of us. Your departure has been so devastating to us all and you are missed so much. We all wish you were still here. I know you will take care of my momma from up above just like you did while you were with us. Rest in paradise Mr. Brown ❤️
