Sharon Lynn Legg (née Wilhite), 79, of Northridge, California, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Sharon was born on May 4, 1946, in Glendale, California, to Wesley John Wilhite and Margaret (Gray) Wilhite, who preceded her in death.
Sharon attended Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley. She met her future husband, Jonathan F. Legg, on the steps of the North Hollywood Masonic Temple in October 1961. Sharon was a member of Job’s Daughters, and Jonathan was in DeMolay, both part of the Masonic youth organizations. She remained active in Job’s Daughters and eventually became Honored Queen, holding that position when they became engaged in December 1964. At just 18, she began working at Hydraulic Research, where she formed lifelong friendships, and later worked at Disney Studios before starting a family.
On June 10, 1966, Sharon married the love of her life, Jonathan F. Legg. They met when Sharon was just 15 years old, and their marriage became a beautiful partnership that lasted nearly 60 years. Jonathan often said he was lucky to have met his soulmate so young and to spend almost his entire life with her.
After raising her children, Sharon returned to work as a teacher’s assistant in the kindergarten class at Callahan Elementary School. Her love for children led her to become a preschool teacher at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox School, where she spent many cherished years helping young students learn and grow. Later in her career, she worked in loan servicing at Great Western and Countrywide until her retirement.
Sharon loved being with her family and creating a warm home filled with good food, laughter, and love. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends, always happiest when she saw smiles around her table. She also adored rabbits and had a special affection for animals.
Travel was another joy in Sharon’s life. Her favorite destination was Hawaii, where she and Jon spent their honeymoon. Over the years they returned many times—sometimes alone, sometimes with friends, and sometimes with family—each trip creating its own special memories. Sharon also loved spontaneous adventures with Jon, whether it was driving up the coast for lunch or traveling to Oklahoma to visit the Pioneer Woman’s ranch simply because she enjoyed the show.
Those who knew Sharon described her as loving, sweet, and fiercely loyal, but also as a force to be reckoned with. She had a presence that could light up a room and a deep passion for the people she loved.
Her family was always her greatest pride. Sharon was present at every school event for her children and grandchildren. No matter the weather, she was in the stands cheering them on. She never missed a school play, even if her child or grandchild had only a small part. Whether it was a one-minute role or standing quietly as a tree in the background, Sharon was there—supportive, proud, and smiling. Distance, cost, or inconvenience never mattered; she always found a way to make sure her family could participate in the moments that mattered most.
She also had a special way of letting people know they were loved. Sharon never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or important milestone. A Hallmark card would often arrive in the mailbox, and for holidays like Valentine’s Day, Easter, or Halloween, she would send a card with a piece of See’s Candy tucked inside. It was her quiet but meaningful way of reminding others that they were important to her.
Above all, Sharon loved her husband, Jon, fiercely. Anyone who saw them together could see the love they shared. Their marriage was the kind many people hope to find—a once-in-a-lifetime love built on devotion, respect, and deep companionship.
Sharon is survived by her devoted husband, Jonathan F. Legg; her children, Scott Allen Legg (Barbara) and Kerri Lynn (Legg) Brode (Robert); her grandchildren, Ryan Scott Legg (Christa), Jonathan Tyler Legg (JT) (Reysita), Sean Brode (Jessica), Anthony Morales (Jazmine), and Mellanie (Morales) Lombardo (Markus); and her great-grandson, Myles Lombardo. She is also survived by her sister, Colleen Gibbons, and her nieces, Cassie (Gibbons) Williams (JJ) and their children, Cormick and Cason, and Tracy (Gibbons) Labeaune (Ryan).
A Trisagion service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Bastian & Perrott, Oswald Mortuary in Northridge. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Northridge. Burial will immediately follow at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sharon’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
