William Ramzi Younan passed away at Cedars Sinai Medical Center following a heart attack, on September 18, 2016 at the age of 88. He had fought kidney disease and was forced to undergo dialysis regularly.
He was a devoted husband and dedicated father. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Nadia Guirgas Younan. William is also survived by his three loving children, sons Robert, Raymond and one daughter, Mary. Along with his five grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Matthew, Natalie and Ryan.
William, was born in Cairo, Egypt, his parents were Ramzi and Ester Younan. He was the middle child of three sons, himself, his older brother, Younan and his younger brother, Sami. They grew up in Cairo together.
William attended and graduated from a French school, College des Freres (Bab al - Louq) where he obtained a degree in accounting. He spoke French fluently while there.
William worked for Metro Goldwyn Mayer as a Managing Director for 31 years. He traveled a lot, going to countries such as, Iraq, Iran and Nigeria. He received several awards while at MGM.
Immigrating to the United States in 1981 with his family, William settled in Southern California and never returned to his homeland of Egypt. He attended St. Mark Coptic Egyptian Church in West Los Angeles. He was very generous in supporting his church and many homeless organizations.
After working for MGM all those years, he purchased and operated a Chevron Gas Station for over 20 years and retired after that.
In his spare time, he loved tennis, swimming and long walks. He won many tennis tournaments. And later, after retiring, he really loved going on cruises.
Following a service at St. Mark Coptic Church on September 22nd, William was laid to rest at Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles.
