It’s been a long time since the passing of Dr P and I hope a family member will see this photo.  My name is Tony Duarte and I served as Dr. P’s dental tech assistant at Holloman AFB.  I recently came across this photo in an old stack of pics.
As a Captain in the Air Force Dr P served with dignity and pride.  He was a great role model for me.  He took extra time to teach me more than what I would have normally known as a dental assistant.  The knowledge that he shared allowed me to have earlier promotions than usual.   He was always in great spirits, had a catchy sense of humor and was a great friend.  I did not follow a dental path but enjoyed a wonderful career in banking.  Dr P was an inspiration in my life. My best regards to his family.

My wife and I were reminiscing of our days in the Air Force, and she encouraged me to google Al's name.  I was his roommate when we first came into the Air Force in 1967.  I'm sorry to learn of his passing, and my wife and I extend our condolences to his surviving family   He was a wonderful person, a great roommate, and a skilled  dentist. I am so glad that I have had the pleasure of having Al and you as friends all these years. I can recall that when Judy and I returned here in 1979 to open the office and set up the house Al was one of the first people to come to call us. I also remember when Judy and Ellen decided to make me a surprise 35 th birthday gathering and Al called to confirm and I answered the phone and he was at a loss of words as he did not want to "spill the beans", we definitely had a good laugh over that at the party.
Those are the moments I will remember.

I was one of Dr. Pilvelis's first adult patients, back in 1985.  I was distressed enough being a young female attorney just starting out in the area, and wearing braces!  But Dr. P was wonderful, kind, funny and so understanding, and he made the process almost carefree,in addition to creating a beautiful smile. Years later, I brought both of my sons to him for his "smile magic", again with terrific results. We will miss him very much!

Dear Mrs. Pilvelis & Family:

Some 37 years ago I had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. P. I was a smarty pants 10 year old who thought she knew everything and then I met Dr. P.  Whenever I had an appointment we exchanged lively banter and I always took home a lesson or two delivered as only he could. I secretly looked forward to or monthly visits, but would never let on. So when it was time for my daughter Allison to get braces there was only one choice as to where to go.  She embraced him immediately and i got to spend time with an old friend talking politics, NFA news or any other current event.  He always remembered something special about each child and asked  them about school, or sports or followed up on a conversation they had had the prior visit.  My daughter once remarked to me in the car after leaving an appointment and Dr. P having asked about her math test; he knew that it was her difficult subject, that he was as proud of her as her Papa ( grandfather)  and that made her want to work even harder.  She wrote to him each summer while away at camp and loved when she was selected as patient of the month twice! He was a gentleman with a kind soul and a wonderful dentist. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. And by the way, Dr. P's aunt took care of my mother as an infant at Grace-New Haven Hospital (yale).

For as long as I can remember, there has always been "Dr. P."  When I was a child, my mother used to read me books in the waiting room while my brothers were in the office.  Later, Dr. P cured my crooked smile and gave me my first job in high school.  He was a great boss, a long-time friend to my family, and an extrememly giving person.  I am so sorry for your loss.  He will be remembered fondly.
