Albert Al Ross Sr.

Bozrah-Albert H. Ross Sr., born in Bozrah August 12, 1924, son of Casper and Jessie (Ames) Ross, died unexpectedly at home on December 3, 2010. Al was proud to be the third generation to operate his family farm. He tended a large garden well into his eighties and was happy to share the vegetables with his family and friends. He never hesitated to help others and will be remembered for his generosity. His door was always open and the coffee was always on.

Al loved the outdoors. He was a skilled sawyer throughout his career. He was a member of the Tri-County Coon Hunters Association. He is also well known for participating in horse pulls at local fairs. Time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, held a special place in his heart.

Al was predeceased by his wife Bernice (Schmidl) Ross, a son Albert H. Ross Jr., brothers Frank and John Ross and sister-in-law Kathleen Ross. He leaves behind his loving companion of 45 years Flora Benoit and their combined family: Sandra Blanchette and husband Raymond, Laura Knight and husband Charles, Edward Benoit and wife Janet, Shirley Benoit and husband Charles, William Ross and wife Jane, Richard Benoit, David Benoit and wife Barbara, Deborah Butler, Elizabeth Wright, and Linda Benoit. He is survived by his brothers Chauncey and Harold Ross, several nieces and nephews, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem Street in Norwich on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
