Arthur "Bill" Ihloff Sr

Born April 5, 1936, in Plainfield CT, the son of Fred and Florence Ihloff,

Rolling Thunder was a member of the Mohegan Tribe and proudly served on the Elder Council for 5 years.

He leaves his beloved wife Barbara, a son Arthur Ihloff Jr. and his wife Mary, a son Michael Ihloff, grandsons David Ihloff and Ian Ihloff, great grandchildren Joyce, Jillian, and David Ihloff, several nieces and nephews, a beloved stepfamily, many friends and family members who looked to him for love and wisdom and fun.

He grew up in Plainfield, married Joyce Laskey and raised his family there. He worked as an upholsterer until he was 24 when he was paralyzed in a car accident. He then owned and operated the Plainfield Aquarium, and later was a stay-at-home Dad.

When the Mohegan Sun Casino opened, he worked in Bingo, later became lead Usher in the Arena, then left when he was elected to serve on the Elder Council.

In spite of his injury and 55 years in a wheel chair, he loved sports. Over the years he has belonged to a disabled sports group that allowed him to ski Mount Snow, and with his wife Barbara, go white water rafting, parasailing, and traveling over land and sea. He was a vibrant, brave generous man: generous with his money, his time, and his big heart. For the last 21 years he was a proud member of AA. Rolling Thunder will be greatly missed and remembered fondly by his family, friends, support group and all who were blessed to know him.

Calling hours to celebrate his life will be held on Friday October 23 at the Church and Allen Funeral Home on 136 Sachem St. in Norwich CT. from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm to 9pm with a Memorial Service at 8pm. A burial service will be held at Fort Shantok Indian burial ground on Fort Shantok Rd., Uncasville on Saturday, October 24th at 10:OOA.M.
