Ray served in the US Air force during the Korean War. He worked as an electrical engineer for Crescent Communications in New London. He was an extraordinary gardener who loved growing flowers and vegetables then donating them to the local soup kitchen. He enjoyed playing golf and had a profound love for animals. A kind and gentle man, Ray enjoyed spending quiet time on his glider, admiring the beauty of nature and his accomplishments.
Aurelio is survived by nieces and nephews Edward Caughey of NC, Kathleen Jacobsen of ME, Marilyn Taylor of CT, James Taylor of CT, Linda Grenon of CT, Marie Jenkins of FL, and best friend Mary Messerschmidt. He is predeceased by sisters Esther Caughey, Federica Taylor, and Julia Weiss.
Family and friends may visit Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich on Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 181 Elizabeth St., Norwich. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Boswell Ave., Norwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Kidney foundation at www.kidney.org.
