Carol was born September 15, 1942 in Norwich; she was the daughter of the late Manuel Dale and Gloria Ruley Maranda.
A lifelong resident of the area she attended Norwich Free Academy, and then received her B.A. in Sociology from Boston University and then her Masters from the University of CT School of Social work. Her early career included working as a Caseworker for the Department Of Public Welfare in Norwich and Teaching at the Mohegan School in Montville. Later in her career she was a Social Work Supervisor for the Department of Children and Youth Services in Norwich, Willimantic and Waterbury. She retired as a Program Supervisor after 20 years of service in 1997.
Carol enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, reading and board games. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and of Explorers International however her passion was to the service of others. She selflessly spent many years volunteering for many organizations such as UCFS’s Retired Seniors, NAACP, the Democratic Town committee, and Docent volunteer for the city of Norwich just to name a few. She also enjoyed the Rose City Senior Center.
Carol is survived by her sister Gwendolyn Blount of Monroeville, PA and two nieces Maranda Blount of Nevada and Sydney Blount of California.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday Oct. 11 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Church and Allen Funeral Home 136 Sachem Street, Norwich, CT. A funeral home service will be held Friday Oct. 12 at the funeral home at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
