Charles "Charlie" D. Coon

Uncasville- Charles Daniel “Charlie” Coon, 72, of Derry Hill Rd., passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at home after a long illness.

Charlie was born October 17, 1947 in Hartford, the son of the late Eber and Margaret (Bracken) Coon.

He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He married Susan Brown April 10, 2010 at the Montville VFW. She survives him.

He was employed as a school bus driver for the Town of Montville and the Town of Groton.

Charlie was a life member of the Montville VFW, the American Legion in Uncasville and a member of the VETS Center in Norwich and the Disabled American Veterans. He loved to fish, race and collect model cars. He was an avid New York Yankees and New England Patriots fan.

In addition to his loving wife Susan, Charlie is survived by his sons Charles Daniel Coon Jr., Daniel Allen Coon and wife Laura, stepson Justin J. Martin, by his daughter Kelly Ann Coon, sister Dawn Steele and her husband George, and by his granddaughter Penny Lee Coon and by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Francis “Frank” Sullivan. Due to Covid 19, there are no calling hours.

I've known Chuck most of my life..He was always a kind soul and loved to have fun..I will never forgot the day he and Susan were married..I dont think I ever saw him so happy ...It was a Match Made in Heaven..Now he is at peace with the ANGELS and pain free..Until we see each other again..RIP, SWEET CHUCK🙏🏻🙏🏻❤❤
