Donald A Cosentino

Donald A. Cosentino, also known as Don, Dad, Poppy, and Baba, a devoted Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, and friend to all who met him, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by the love of his family.

Donald was born on July 30, 1938, in Willimantic, Connecticut to Rose and Joseph Cosentino. He lived in North Franklin, Connecticut up until he entered the Army serving his country as a proud patriot.

He met Irene E. Buechse at a dance hall in Westerly, Rhode Island, his life long love of almost 60 years. They married on October 14, 1961, in Norwich, Connecticut. Together they lived in various locations in Connecticut before settling in Norwich for 55 years. They lovingly raised a beautiful family and helped to raise their adored grandchildren. Their home was always a welcoming place of love, laughter, music and lots of food. Later in life, they enjoyed traveling together on many wonderful vacations in the US and overseas.

Donald was a "jack of all trades" who could fix anything from cars to furnaces to anything mechanical or electrical. He was your man. He was a self-employed hairdresser who owned his own business for decades, Century Hairstylists, building a loyal clientele who adored him and his talents.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Joseph Cosentino, his wife Irene Cosentino, and his brother Anthony Cosentino of North Franklin, Connecticut. He is survived by his sisters Beverly Cosentino of Norwich, Connecticut, and Elizabeth Hook of North Franklin, Connecticut, and his sister-in-law Christine Cosentino of North Franklin Connecticut; his Children Sandra Carpenter of Norwich, Connecticut, Wayne Cosentino and his wife Penelope of Norwich, Connecticut, and Cheryl Jones and her husband Noel of Norwich, Connecticut. His Grandchildren Rebecca Cosentino of Baltic, Connecticut, Nina Morrone of Topanga, California, Nicole Zaneski of East Lyme, Connecticut, Conor Jones of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Madeleine Jones of Norwich, Connecticut, Nico Cosentino of Norwich, Connecticut, and Selena Cosentino of Norwich, Connecticut; and his Great-Grandchildren Sophie and Ava Morrone and Zoe and Sunny Zaneski, along with all his other countless family members and those whose lives he touched.

Born with a gentle spirit and a heart inclined toward helping others, Donald's faith was the cornerstone upon which he built a legacy of love, family, and loyalty. His presence was monumental in the lives of his Children, Grandchildren, and Great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

In keeping with Donald's wishes, there will be a graveside tribute with Military Honors at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike, Norwich, Connecticut, on Thursday, August 27th at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
