One of six children, Donald was born to the late Lulu and George L'Homme on August 21, 1934 in Griswold, CT.
Donald was an active participant at Ross Adult Day Center and leaves many of his friends behind, specifically Gary Ladouceur. he was a member of Central Baptist Church in Norwich and served as an usher for many years. Donald was a true Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, Boston Celtics, and UConn Huskies fan. He loved to travel and would go anywhere his family would take him. He visited Florida many times and loved to see Disneyworld. If there was a picnic, a parade, or party, Donald was there. His hobbies included collecting firefighter memorabilia, writing in his notebooks, watching western movies and The Three Stooges. He always had a smile on his face and was eager to please. Uncle Don's spirit will be truly missed.
He is survived by his brother and caregiver, John L'Homme of Mystic, CT, special nieces and best friends Doreen Mainville and Melanie Scheuermann, nieces Darlene Biasi, Janice Kissane, Diane L'Homme Neubig, Donna L'Homme, Marie Allain, Alicia Copeland, nephews Gilbert Napier, George Napier, Mark L'Homme, Gregory L'Homme, Kenneth L'Homme, Jonathan L'Homme, many great nieces and nephews along with great-great nephews Joshua Gougon, Gavin Biasi, Joseph Tuttle, Landon Paradis, and great-great nieces Sydney and Jordan L'Homme, Julia Biasi, Alessia Piacenza, and Adrianna Shea Hardison.
Donald is predeceased by his brothers George L'Homme, Richard L'Homme, Robert L'Homme, his sister Dottie Yerkes, nephews Richard L'Homme, Christopher L'Homme, Robert "Bobby" L'Homme, and niece Roseanne L'Homme.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Norwich, on tuesday, january 25, 2011, at 12pm. Calling hours will be held at 11am, prior to the service. Burial to follow at Robbins Cemetery, Voluntown, CT, where Donald will be laid to rest with his mother, father and brothers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ross Adult Day Center, 165 McKinley Avenue, Norwich, CT.
