Doran was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as a Chief Radiological Technologist at Backus Hospital for 24 years.
Softly spoken and highly regarded by those who knew him, Doran was a proud son of Connecticut. He had a deep love of community, his family and the many friendships he formed over the years. Doran will be dearly missed by many.
Doran is survived by a daughter Sara and her husband Paul of Australia, grandchildren Brianna and Chloe and a brother Peter Shumway of South Carolina.
The immediate family will be holding a private service to celebrate Doran’s life. His ashes will be spread at Columbia Lake, a place that he remained deeply connected with throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doran’s honor to the New London Senior Citizens Center (10 Brainard St, New London, CT 06320).
