North Franklin-Edward Patrick Joy II (Ned), age 77, of North Franklin, passed away on September 29, 2018 at Apple Rehab in Colchester. He was born on May 16, 1941 in Waterbury to the late Edward P. Joy and Gertrude (Casey) Joy. He married Wanda (Grose) Joy on April 27, 1968 at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington D.C.
Edward was an Air Force veteran. He retired from sales at Gorin’s Furniture. He also designed kitchens for Sears years ago in the Virginia area. He loved fishing, hunting, and reading. He was very good at working with wood, anything mechanical, and so many other things.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Patrick Joy, from North Franklin, a brother, Francis Joy of Mountain City, TX, and a number of nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion “Olivia” his dog. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Gerard and Michael Joy.
We would like to thank all the staff at Apple Rehab for the wonderful care they gave Ned during his short stay with them.
Family and friends may visit Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem Street on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Cathedral, Broadway in Norwich.
