Elizabeth W. Strong

Lisbon- Elizabeth (Liz) Strong of Tunnel Hill Mobile Homes died Wednesday, June 25th at Connecticut Hospice, Branford, CT. She was the daughter of Edward P. and Marion S. Wheaton born March 7, 1933 in Boston, MA. She was the loving wife of Rev. Richard P. Strong for 60 years faithfully serving with him in four American Baptist Churches: First Baptist Church, Hope Valley, RI (1960-1970); Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church, Groton, CT; (1970-1980); First Baptist Church, Rutland VT (1980-1989) and North Foster Baptist Church, Foster RI (1989-1996). Aside from her affiliations with the churches, Liz worked in several jobs supplementing the family finances. Included are Kaydee Handprints, Hope Valley, RI; George C. Moore Co., Westerly, RI.: and Home Health Aide Work in the Groton/New London area, Rutland, VT and North Foster, R.I.. Liz was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters: Jean A. Weed (Clayton) and Jill C. Haelsen (Glenn) and four granddaughters Emily Weed, Jennifer Frease, Chelsea and Tessa Haelsen and a sister: Pauline Genereux (Joseph) of Cherryfield, ME and a brother-in-law: Kenneth B. Strong (Bobbie) of Stratford, TX. and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Norwich on Saturday, July 5th at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Campaign for Comfort, First Baptist Church, 239 W. Main Street, Norwich, CT 06360.
