

She was born in Norwich, CT on Sept. 17, 1917 to the late Pasquale and Maria (Romano) Amedeo. She began working as a seamstress for the former Majestic Trouser Co in Norwich and then began a family. She returned to the workforce opening and operating LaCasa di Giuseppe coffee shop first on Thames St in Norwich, then Main St at the bus station and finally moving to Waterford where she worked until her retirement. Throughout her life, Frances had a passion for cooking and until her final year, always maintained beautiful flower and abundant vegetable gardens.
Frances and her husband Sam raised their family in Norwich and Waterford. He predeceased her.
She is survived by her children; Samuel Grillo Jr, Ronald Grillo, and Richard Grillo and his wife Nancy, one brother; Pepino, one sister; Joanne, grandchildren; Sam III, Jeffrey, David, Jessica, Josam, Monique, Ryan and Adam, great grandchildren; Issac, Egan, Kelly, and Nicole along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son; Joseph Grillo, and a sister; Luigina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 8th at 10am at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 181 Elizabeth St., Norwich meeting directly at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Wednesday (Oct 7th) evening from 5pm – 8pm at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT.
