Frank was born October 11, 1939 in Norwich, the son of the late Peter and Vincenza (D’Elia) Quercia. Frank grew up in Norwich and was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy. He went on to graduate from The University of Connecticut with a business degree. Frank married the late Kathleen Thaute on January 29, 1966. They were married for fifty years until she passed away September 2, 2016. Frank had a long career in the insurance industry as an adjuster. Frank was also a local businessman as an owner of the Village Green Cafe and Dudley’s Lounge. In his retirement, he and Kathleen would spend the winter months in St. Petersburg, Florida and return each summer to spend time with his family and friends. Frank was a longtime member of the American Legion in Uncasville and St. Petersburg. He loved to play baseball in his youth and was a lifelong Yankees fan. Frank was a kind and generous person who was truly loved. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Frank is survived by his daughters, Lisa Powers and Andrea Quercia Pescatello and husband Paul; two grandchildren, James Powers and Liam Pescatello; and sister Theresa Murphy.
In addition to his loving wife and parents he is predeceased by his son Frank W. Quercia on Sept. 23, 1967; brother Peter; sisters Josephine and Pauline; and son in law James Powers.
A funeral service will be held at the Church and Allen Funeral Home in Norwich on Thursday, September 29 at 12:30pm. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be private for the family.
The Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St. Norwich, is assisting the family with arrangements.
