

Born in New London, CT, on June 25, 1950, Gary was the son of the late John A. Fonner Jr. and Lillian I. (Hoy) Fonner. He attended Waterford High School, graduating with the Class of 1968.
Following graduation, Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the 101st Airborne Division before receiving an honorable discharge.
Gary shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Donna (Talbot) Fonner. They were married at St. John's Church in Uncasville, CT, on February 7, 1975.
Gary dedicated 51 years of service to Stop & Shop, where he was known for his hard work and commitment.
He found great joy in the outdoors and treasured time spent camping, attending and watching NASCAR races, hiking, traveling—especially to his favorite destinations in Maine and New Hampshire—and bird watching. Above all, Gary cherished his family. His greatest happiness came from spending time with his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons.
In addition to his loving wife, Donna, Gary is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Bryan) Feldman of Libertyville, Illinois; and his cherished grandsons, Justin, Jarrett, and Jefferson Feldman; his brothers John (Doris) A Fonner III of Oakdale, CT, Brian Fonner of Largo, FL, James (Angela) Fonner; and his sister Linda Entus of Tacoma, WA. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Michael (Virginia) Talbot of Uncasville, CT and Paul (Toni) Talbot of Colchester, CT; his sisters-in-law, Susan (William) Keemon of Uncasville, CT, and Ann (Eric) Yandian of Durham, NC; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Gary's wishes, there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Gary will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, his love of nature, and the kindness he shared with those who knew him. His memory will be cherished always.
