Gerard “Jay” M. Lanoue Jr., 56, of Gales Ferry, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born on December 10, 1969, in Norwich, Jay was the beloved son of Gloria (Edwards) Lanoue and the late Gerard M. Lanoue Sr. He grew up in Ledyard, where he formed many lifelong friendships that remained dear to him throughout his life.
Jay’s greatest passion was cooking. A talented chef, he honed his craft in renowned restaurants across South Hampton and Napa Valley. His love for food brought joy to countless people.
Jay was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He spent many Thanksgivings down in Texas watching the game. His favorite place to travel was Seattle, Washington, holding a special place in his heart. He had lived and worked there in the past and frequently returned to visit his niece Rachel.
Jay is survived by his loving mother, Gloria, his sister Rachel and brother-in-law Mike, his niece Rachel and husband Evan, nephews Jacob and Aiden, and great-niece and nephews Jace, Maverick, Calla, and Reagan. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched. We take comfort in the fact that he will be reunited in Heaven with his father and late brother Jason.
A memorial service will be held at 6pm, Saturday, July 18th at Erickson Park in Gales Ferry.
