Isla Sonia Leefe passed away on April 1, 2024. She was 83 years old. Isla was born on January 15, 1941 in the Bronx, New York. She was raised along with her brother, Dennis, by their parents, Beatrice and George Lebwohl.
Isla and her husband, Robert Jack Leefe, met and married while she was young, and had four children: Eric, Jan, Aysha ( deceased ) and Keva (Fothergill), raising them in Massapequa, Long Island, New York.
She was an avid collector of eclectic jewelry, antiques, and garage sale finds. With a gleem in her eye, rising early in the morning to be the first to acquire any potential treasures to be had.
She started a cosmetic company after realizing she could be her own boss, which she had for many years.
Animals of all sorts brought her joy, and there wasn’t an animal or human, actually, that wasn’t welcome in her home. She was an open, nonjudgmental, caring person to all who were lucky enough to know her. Always willing to try an exotic recipe and make a new friend.
She preferred the esoteric and strange rather than banal commonality. She was truly a unique soul, and will be profoundly missed.
She is survived by two adored grandchildren, Roan and Latham and beloved son-in-law, David Fothergill.
