Jim graduated from New London High School then served in the National Guard. Following that, Jim worked as a millwright for Pfizer for most of his working career. His mechanical aptitude was unmatched--he had a remarkable ability to fix anything and everything. Whether it was a household appliance or a complex engine part, Jim approached every challenge with patience and skill.
Those who knew Jim will remember him as a hardworking man who found joy in the simple things-especially time spent with his grandchildren. His hands were rarely idle, he could always be found tinkering in his basement workshop or accompanying Carol at her favorite pastime of going to yard sales.
He is survived by his son Peter Keramidas (DeeDee), and his daughters Lynn Silk (Matt) and Terry Fontaine (Jim). His love extended fully to his grandchildren; Felicia Keramidas (Justin), Megan Silk, Angelina Keramidas, Matthew Silk (Melissa), John Silk (Lauren), Ryan Silk, James Fontaine, Andrew Fontaine, and PJ Keramidas (Samantha). He also cherished the next generation of his family, including his great-granddaughter Eva Athena Ruffing. He is also survived by his brother Peter Keramidas.
Jim was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Carol A. Keramidas. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Nicholas Keramidas, John Keramidas, Vicki Eldridge, Sue Keramidas, and Dena Belk.
A private graveside service for Jim will be held at St Joseph Cemetery in Norwich, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jim's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
